Toxic chemicals such as phthalates are prevalent in everyday household items, including plastic containers for packing food or beverages, cosmetics (creams, soaps, lotions, shampoos, nail vanish) and children’s toys.

Many people, especially women are risk due to unsafe household practices such as using Single-Use plastic bags, commonly known as (Kaveera) for packing food, and opr lighting charcoal stoves. Plastics once subjected to heat release harmful substances that rare dangerous to health.

We called upon Ugandan Policymakers to close regulatory gaps and ensure that women are protected from harmful chemicals. We also urged them to align national policies withg international frameworks such as the Stockholm Convention, the Minamata Convention, and the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICAM). Protecting Women and families from these chemicals is a matter of public health and environmental justice.
