The UN third Conference of Parties CoP 3 to the Minamata Conference of Parties opened today in Geneva, Switzerland. The Conference will run from 25th – 29th November 2019. Among the issues the Convention deliberated on today include: Effectiveness evaluation, Releases, and amendment to Annexes “A” & “B”.
On Wednesday 27th November some NGOs including BIVA and the Zero Mercury Working Group (ZMWG)/ European Environmental Bureau (EEB) will release a report on a study they conducted to establish Skin-lightening cream that contain mercury exceeding 1ppm. Look out for the report.
