Meet our staff members

Mr. Kamese is an accomplished environmentalist and a human rights activist, with over twenty-five years of advocacy experience working with non-governmental environmental organizations. He has served in different capacities in different organizations, including; as the first chairperson of the Climate Action Network Africa (CANA), Regional Node Coordinator of the Climate Action Network Eastern Africa (CANEA), for more than 5 years, he represented Africa on the Climate Justice and Energy (CJE) Steering Committee of the Friends of the Earth International (FoEI). Geoffrey is founder and coordinator of the Network on the Sound Management of Chemicals in Uganda (NESMAC-U) an advocacy civil society network on chemicals management. Above all, Geoffrey strives to promote people centered solutions and energy paradigms that are decentralized, viable and people owned; designed to meet the energy needs of both urban and rural poor communities amongst others.

Betty Obbo is an environmental activist, Women’s rights and nature defender. She works with rural women’s groups to amplify their voices on issues of their concern in collaboration with national, regional, and international women’s rights organizations.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree and a diploma in Environmental Management from Makerere International Institute of Environmental Education, Development & Practical Skills (MIIEDPS), Kampala-Uganda, and a Certificate in International Conventions and their Implementation for Sustainable Chemicals Management from Firdolfing and Bon, Germany. She works with Bio Vision Africa as Gender & Extractive Officer & the Deputy Executive Director.

Mr. Nyakahuma is an Environmentalist and Human Rights Defender. He holds a Diploma in Environmental Management from diploma in Environmental Management from Makerere International Institute of Environmental Education, Development & Practical Skills (MIIEDPS) and a Certificate in International Conventions and their Implementation for Sustainable Chemicals Management from Zhatum, Bon, Germany, Action Plan Skills Building for sound management of Chemicals from the United Nations Institute for Training & Research (UNITAR) form Jinja – Uganda. He had a training in Circle Leaders Course on Pesticide Safety by Crop Life International/ NUPAW from Agricultural Research Institute (NARO/ DFI) Jinja – Uganda. He works with Bio Vision Africa as a programes officer on Sustainable Energy, Chemicals and Waste Management.

Ms. Esther TBR is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in procurement, environmental impact assessment, and natural resource management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management of Makerere University (MU), Kampala-Uganda and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Impact Assessment EIA) of Makerere University (MU) Kampala – Uganda. Esther works with BiVA as the Youth, Food Systems, Biodiversity and Climate Change Officer.

Ms. Nakabugo is a professional Public Accountant. She holds a Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) and Diploma in Business Management (DBM) from Buganda Royal Institute of Business Education & Technical Education, Kampala – Uganda. |
